Amazing Mr. Malone, The

1948–1951 · 10 episodes · 18 listens

The Amazing Mr. Malone (initially known as Murder and Mr. Malone) is an American radio crime drama series based on the John Malone series of mystery novels by Craig Rice. The series ran on ABC from January 11, 1947, through September 24, 1950, and was broadcast on NBC Radio from May 25, 1951, through July 13, 1951.

The series follows socialite John Joseph Malone, a tough Chicago criminal lawyer who takes on a new case in each episode. Each episode begins by establishing the suspects for a specified crime, and after one of them is arrested, Malone is hired to defend the accused person. Malone never gives up until justice is done, often going beyond defending his clients in court by “taking to the streets to uncover the evidence he needs to clear them.”

The series was known for its fast-paced plots, clever dialogue, and Malone’s determination to see that the right person is brought to justice. The show blended elements of crime drama, mystery, and legal procedural, providing an entertaining and engaging listening experience for audiences during the golden age of radio.
