I have been corresponding with a lovely lady, Emily, over the past couple of weeks, who is the daughter of the late, Wade Arnold, a talented writer who edited and produced many old time radio shows and television documentaries.
One of these old time radio shows is the Living 1948-1951 series.
I have asked Emily if she'd like to put together a little editorial about her Dad for us all on RUSC, and she's hopefully going to do that in the near future, once she's over the hump of work she's currently putting into her own book about her parents and their family. I can't wait to read it!
In the meantime, I searched the RUSC archives, and found some of the Living series shows, which I've begun adding to RUSC. If they're all as fantastic as the first one I just listened to though - I know you are all going to love the whole series!
You'll see now how this leads on from Mother's Day...
The first episode I listened to is called Silver Cords and Apron Strings, and takes place one hundred years after the first women's rights convention in 1848.
The episode cautiously looks at how far women have come in the past century (1848-1948). I won't give away any more than that, but honestly, what an episode! I loved it :-) I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. So cleverly written too!
You can listen to Silver Cords and Apron Strings on RUSC today, and I'll keep adding new episodes to the series this week.
Happy listening my friends,
