The initial shock and devastation left us feeling that, after twenty-five years, this might be the end of RUSC. But thanks to the incredible dedication and perseverance of some remarkable people, we are thrilled to announce that we have managed to bring RUSC back to life, stronger and more vibrant than ever before—and you're inside the new version right now.
The journey to recovery was an immense and daunting feat. It was a colossal task that required countless hours of hard work, technical wizardry, sheer determination, and more cups of coffee in a week than I'd normally consume in a month. Our son Nick, who has been an unwavering pillar of strength and expertise, led the charge. Alongside him, some good friends who are also passionate about old-time radio rallied together, pooling their skills and resources to reconstruct the RUSC members area from the ground up.
But it wasn’t smooth sailing. Along the way, we encountered numerous obstacles that tested our resolve. As we were going through them, some of these problems seemed insurmountable. Yet, each hurdle and every challenge was met with a solution, however elusive it seemed at first.
They often say that out of adversity comes opportunity. In this case, that couldn't have been truer. The silver lining in this crisis is the powerful new platform on which the RUSC member's area has been rebuilt. This new robust infrastructure offers us an array of possibilities that were previously out of reach with the old technology that had served us well for a quarter of a century. Enhanced features, quicker load times, and smoother user experiences are just the beginning of what this new platform has to offer. The future definitely looks bright for the RUSC members area with this powerful new platform.
We could never have achieved this without you, our amazing RUSC members. Your patience, encouragement, and unwavering support during this tumultuous period have been truly extraordinary. Your kind words and understanding bought us the time and space we needed to focus on the task at hand. Knowing that we had your backing, we pushed through each challenge with renewed vigor and determination. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every one of you.
We’re excited to announce that we are 90% there! While the new member's area is mostly complete, a few features, such as RUSC Radio, are still being fine-tuned. But rest assured, we are working diligently to make sure these will be back soon, and better than ever. We're also still busy rebuilding some of the databases, such as the one containing all of the biographical information about the actors, musicians, writers, etc. Once this is complete, everything will be pretty much fully restored.
There will, I am sure, be some bugs, missing links, and other things, so if you spot anything, please do let us know by clicking on the Feedback tab in the bottom right hand corner, and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve any issues.
This experience has been an emotional rollercoaster, but it has also been profoundly humbling. It has reinforced the sense of community that makes RUSC so special. We promise to keep working hard to deliver the best possible experience for you.
